Mark Cuss Memorial Scholarship 2015
The Mark Cuss Memorial Scholarship is presented yearly by Unmanned Systems Canada to a Canadian student showing dedication and passion to pursuing the future of the UAV industry. It celebrates the life of Mark Cuss, a young and enthusiastic member of the Canadian unmanned aircraft industry who passed away at a young age after a long battle with cancer. I was honoured to receive this award and endeavour to continue to uphold the values and passion which he instilled in the industry and into his work.
International Community Achievment Award
This award is given to international students at the University of British Columbia who have shown a keen interest in being involved in, and developing the local Vancouver community.
For my work as part of Anime Revolution, as well as other volunteer work I have put in around the city and province I was selected for the award and received it during my second year at UBC.
2nd Place - UBC Engineering Challenge 2013
The UBC Engineering Design Challenge is designed to select the best group of engineers to send on to the next round of competition against other school in western Canada. The team I was a part of was truly excellent and we placed 2nd by a mere 1 point.
During the event we had to develop an engineered solution to a difficult problem with a limited set of resources, as well as pitch and present our design to a panel of judges. An overall rewarding and enjoyable experience!
UBC President's Entrance Scholarship
The President’s Entrance Scholarship is awarded by the University of British Columbia to incoming students with exceptional scores in their High School educational certificates. I received the award in 2011 on my entrance into the university, it was a great feeling to know that my hard work in another country had paid off in Canada too!
Young Endeavour Youth Scholarship
The Young Endeavour Youth Scholarship is awarded to outstanding students who show an interest in sailing and the outdoors. The recipient is awarded with a two week voyage about the HMAS Young Endeavour, a tall ship run by the Royal Navy of Australia.
The experience aboard the ship focuses on developing teamwork, and leadership skills in a close knit, high stress (but enjoyable!) environment. I received the award in 2009 and had the opportunity to be on board a voyage through the barrier reef region off the coast of Queensland, a truly beautiful place!
Certificate of Excellence - Design Technology
Certificates of Excellence are awarded by Melbourne Grammar School for students who consistently show exceptional performance in the subject area of the award. Design Technology was a “fun” choice subject for me in my final year in high school. I enjoyed the class immensely and put in a lot of work to make my design project as good as could be and was lucky enough to receive this award! (See my Union Jack Coffee Table)
Certificate of Excellence - Physics
Certificates of Excellence are awarded by Melbourne Grammar School for students who consistently show exceptional performance in the subject area of the award. Physics was always one of my best subjects at school and in 2010, my graduating year, my hard work paid off with the receipt of this award.
